About FCPO

  • What is the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers-USA?

The Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers-USA (FCPO) is a nationwide movement of peace officers who believe God has called them to take Christ to the law enforcement community. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Christian organization.

  • How is FCPO different from other Christian organizations?

The Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers-USA's primary distinction from other Christian organizations is our focus on ministering to the men and women in the law enforcement community across the United States. There is no other organization offering the resources and opportunities for spiritual growth to officers nationwide that FCPO does.

  • Why do you minister to law enforcement officers?

Law enforcement officers engage and perceive the world differently than others. They face what others fear. They typically see more tragedy, violence, pain and suffering in a week than most people see in a lifetime. Today’s anti-police climate places a huge additional burden on an already stress filled profession. As a result, divorce, domestic violence, alcoholism, and drug abuse plague law enforcement.

The suicide risk for officers is also higher than for the general population. They often question their value to society and whether it's all worth it. Officers often isolate themselves from those outside the profession and only trust their own.

  • How does FCPO make a difference?

For over 50 years, FCPO has been connecting officers to God and each other through small groups (local chapters) and life-on-life discipleship, equipping and empowering them to become the men and women God designed them to be.

Through local chapters, members, and the online community, FCPO brings Christian officers together in a welcoming environment for fellowship and support. They are encouraged to embrace their profession as God’s personal calling and understand that their service is to God as His tool for serving, protecting, ministering, and accountability. Print resources, digital tools, and spiritual training programs FCPO provides encourage spiritual commitment and growth within officers to create a firm Christian worldview, enabling them to engage the many challenges and difficulties they face daily.

  • What is the impact of FCPO's ministry?

Committed Christian officers can take the love of Jesus into places and situations where civilians could never go. Can you imagine the impact on society of law enforcement officers responding to every call for service with Christian compassion? Their changed lives have the potential to transform their agencies, their family lives, and the communities they serve.

  • Is FCPO-Canada part of your organization?

FCPO-Canada is a separate entity, although we do occasionally partner together on specific projects. Founded in 1983, FCPO-Canada reaches out to officers across the provinces of Canada with the love of Jesus Christ. You may visit their website at fcpocanada.com

  • Do you partner with any other organizations?

Yes. FCPO-USA maintains strategic partnerships with other reputable organizations in order to combine forces and resources to reach common goals. The core of these partnerships is a scriptural foundation, and a love for the law enforcement community.  Through cooperative arrangements with like-minded individuals and organizations, God has enriched our fellowship, expanded our “reach,” and meaningfully touched thousands of lives.

  • Do you sell FCPO merchandise?

This is one of the most common questions we are asked.  We do not currently sell merchandise because, as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we cannot sell items (t-shirts, caps, mugs, etc.) for profit from the national home office.  However, one of our members has created a couple of online stores with a large variety of authorized FCPO branded apparel, accessories, and other merchandise at very reasonable prices.  You can click here to visit his primary store. You can also find additional products here at his secondary site. In addition to the items in these collections, custom items can be designed specifically for you and/or your local chapter, if desired. (Note: The Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers-USA receives no monetary funds from the sale of FCPO branded merchandise.)

Membership

  • How do I become an FCPO member?

Completing the online membership application is quick and easy, and your membership brings access to many opportunities for spiritual growth and fellowship, as well as helping provide the same life-changing resources to others in the law enforcement community across the nation. Click here for all the details.

  • Do FCPO members pay dues?

Not in the traditional sense. FCPO-USA asks new membership applicants to commit to a gift to the national ministry of $10.00 monthly. Many officers are trying to pay the rent and feed their families on a relatively small salary, in addition to paying dues to police unions, benevolence associations, etc. We don't want FCPO membership to be a financial burden to anyone, and almost everyone can afford $10 per month. These membership donations are used to defray the expenses of the National Office providing ministry support (staff, equipment, and materials) to the many local chapters across the U.S. Although additional donations from members are certainly welcomed, no other fees are required.

  • What do FCPO members do?

Quite a lot, actually! Through local chapters across the U.S. and the resources FCPO provides, members are given opportunities for fellowship, Bible study, discipleship, and service, learning to provide support and encouragement to other Christian officers, become more effective witnesses for Christ to those around them, and train others to join with them in carrying out the Great Commission. You can learn more here.

  • What about spouses of peace officers?

FCPO-USA welcomes spouses of peace officers to join as associate members. Associate members receive all benefits and resources that regular members enjoy. Associate membership is a great way for a spouse to demonstrate their support of Christians in law enforcement and join in their officer's commitment to this ministry.  Additionally, we have and can refer you to resources especially for spouses.

  • I'm not a sworn law enforcement officer. Can I join FCPO?

Yes! Associate membership is open to all interested persons, including support personnel, spouses, and reserve officers. You don't have to be a law enforcement officer to join FCPO.

  • I don't want to join FCPO at this time. Is there anything else I can do to help?

Absolutely! We need your help getting the word out about this ministry. If you have a heart for the spiritual, physical, and emotional well being of law enforcement officers and their families, you are the perfect FCPO partner.

There are a number of ways you can be an advocate for this ministry:

Giving and Financial Matters

  • How does FCPO receive adequate funding?

FCPO is a faith ministry, meaning we rely primarily on the generous recurring and one-time gifts of our supporters to meet expenses. Your financial partnership is an eternal investment, enabling the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers-USA to minister to thousands of men and women in the law enforcement community across the nation.

  • How can my gift to FCPO do the most good?

FCPO-USA welcomes all donations, whether designated for a specific project or not. However, your gift to the general fund (where most needed) gives us the flexibility to address our most urgent needs at the moment. If your gift recurs on a monthly basis, it also helps form a reliable source of funding that FCPO-USA can count on to help us fulfill the mission of this ministry.

  • Why do you emphasize recurring giving?

Giving a recurring gift is a convenient and efficient way to support the ministry of FCPO-USA as well as keeping your membership current. These gifts form a reliable source of funding that FCPO-USA can count on to help us fulfill the mission of this ministry. Your recurring online donation is secure and flexible. If you need to make changes,  such as the amount and/or frequency of your gift, or updating your card information,  you may do so anytime by contacting the FCPO-USA National Home Office. Your request will be handled promptly.

  • What is your financial policy?

FCPO-USA believes we have a responsibility to be faithful stewards and to maintain integrity and openness in our financial practices. Because God supplies us with resources for ministry through individual contributions, we recognize our accountability both to Him and to our donors. Therefore, FCPO-USA is committed to sound fiscal policies and transparency.

Gifts for the support of the ministries of The Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers-USA will be received at the FCPO-USA National Home Office at 2158 Northgate Park Lane, Suite 413, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37415. Additional gifts will also be received from time to time by the members of local chapters across the U.S. through their various fundraising efforts. Contributions to FCPO-USA are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law.

Designated gifts to the support of FCPO-USA ministries are greatly appreciated and a receipt will be issued for all deductible gifts for tax purposes. Occasionally, however, we receive more contributions for a given project than can be wisely applied to that project. When a particular need is over-funded, our solicitations for that need will be discontinued and otherwise designated funds may, at the discretion and direction of the FCPO-USA Board of Directors, be applied to cover similar needs that are still under-funded, or broader needs that fall within the scope of FCPO-USA's ministry.

  • Can I see FCPO-USA's IRS documents?

Certainly. You can view recent copies of our IRS Form 990, as well as much more information about this ministry, in our Candid GuideStar profile, available here.

Local Chapters

  • How do I start an FCPO chapter?

If you are an active or retired peace officer, click here to learn more about the requirements of starting a chapter and to complete and submit the chapter inquiry form. An FCPO representative will contact you with further information about starting a chapter in your area.

  • How do I find out if there is already an FCPO chapter near me?

There are always new FCPO chapters starting up across the United States. See all FCPO chapter locations here. All active chapters will have a contact person listed; inactive chapter listings will refer you back to the national home office.

  • Are chapters meeting in person again after Covid?

Most chapters meet in person but, in consideration of ongoing health and safety concerns, different chapters have addressed the situation in different ways.  Please contact your local FCPO chapter leadership for information concerning any chapter meeting changes in your area.

  • I attend chapter meetings. Doesn't that make me a member?

While a law enforcement officer may participate in a local chapter at any time, he/she cannot be an official FCPO member, receive membership resources and materials, and fully experience being part of this ministry until submitting a membership application. Privacy and Security

  • Does FCPO give my name to other organizations?

No. Out of respect for individuals' privacy, FCPO-USA does not sell or rent our mailing list to other organizations wishing to use the names and addresses of our supporters. We maintain tight security on our list of friends and supporters.

  • What about your links to other sites? Are they safe?
