As a fellow police officer, I am your back up on this call. I can't let you go
into the next call or assignment of your life without telling you the risk.
In Genesis 4:7 (NLT), God tells us that, "sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you, but you must subdue it and be its master". Satan is the father of lies, the deceiver. His desire is to kill you. In John 10:10, Satan is called the thief: "The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy". There is only one way to defeat Satan and certain death. If you don't have Christ in your life, you will die in your sin and spend eternity in hell.
Think of it as the elements of the offense for becoming a Christ follower. Romans 10:9 says, "If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
"As the Scriptures say, 'No one is righteous - not even one"' (Romans 3:10). There is not one person on this earth who is sinless. Who knows this better than a law enforcement officer? We, too, are guilty of sin; that is just a fact.
"God overlooked people's ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him." (Acts 17:30).
Romans 5:8 tells us that, "God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners". Romans 10:9-10 says, "If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved"
You have been given all of the evidence you need to convict yourself as a sinner without a savior. No partner, SWAT team, or anything else can save you. Jesus is the only way. He is reaching down to pull you out and save you, but you have to reach up to Him and take His hand. The way to do this is to pray to Jesus. Confess your sins to Him, tell Him you believe in Him. Cry out that you need Him and that you desire to give up your life for Him. Ask Jesus to be your own personal Savior and to come into your life. Romans 10:13 says, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
This life is only a testing ground to determine where you will spend eternity. Choose wisely.
