Former Board Member Mike Dye Passes Away

March 17, 2025

Served on National Board of Directors 2013-17

Former National Board of Directors Member Mike Dye passed away on February 9 at the age of 60 after a long battle with a congenital heart defect. Originally from Detroit, MI, he moved to DeLand, FL, in 1970 and remained a lifelong resident.

Mike served with the Volusia Co. Sheriff's Office from 1985 to 2015, rising to the rank of Sergeant. He later joined the U.S. Marshals Service in Los Angeles, where he took on specialized assignments and traveled globally on federal missions.

Beyond his distinguished law enforcement career, Mike was also an author, writing The PeaceKeepers, a Bible study for law enforcement officers that gained worldwide recognition. A longtime member of the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers-USA, he led Chapter 213 (Central Florida Peacekeepers) and served on the National Board of Directors.

After retiring from law enforcement, Mike spent the next decade (2014–2024) teaching criminal justice at University High School in Orange City, FL. His students affectionately called him “Dep Dye,” a tribute to his years of service as both a Deputy Sheriff and a Deputy U.S. Marshal.

Family visitation and funeral services were held on February 18 at First Assembly of DeLand. The service may be viewed by clicking here.

Mike’s life was a testament to service, faith, and devotion to his family, community, and country. Please keep the Dye family and their friends in your prayers during this time of loss.
