2nd Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Picnic a Huge Success

May 28, 2019

The weather was sunny and warm, perfect for a cookout in Chattanooga, Tennessee on Friday, May 17th, as Brainerd Hills Baptist Church partnered with the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers-USA to show their appreciation to law enforcement officers across Hamilton County with a picnic meal.

Once again this year, volunteers cooked, prepared, and served meals at the CPD Police Services Center from 10 am until 11:30 pm, making sure all three shifts of all Law Enforcement, sworn and civilian, inside Hamilton County Tennessee were fed. Approximately 600 burgers and over 400 hot dogs were served with all the trimmings and a variety of chips, desserts, and soft drinks. Everyone had the option of eating and enjoying each other's company under the pavilion in the courtyard area, or getting their meal to-go. The tables were decorated with baskets of snacks and notes of appreciation prepared in advance by the children of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church.

Over 500 city police officers, county deputies, support personnel, and the Hamilton County 911 Center were fed "just to say thank you", according to FCPO-USA Executive Director Paul Lee. Planning has already begun for next year's meal, with the date already scheduled.

This outreach event is another example of how the ministry of FCPO, in partnership with a local church in this instance, can show the love of Christ to law enforcement officers and support personnel.
